AWARENESS

Learn how you can make the best decisions in the game. Awareness increases the more we play and the more we watch. Analyzing players in your position is a great way to understand their movements and timing.

- Scan your shoulder, constantly.

- Always keep your head up.

- Analyze your favorite players.

MENTAL

AGGRESSION

Players will use physical maneuvers to put themselves between the opponent and the ball. You'll need to be physical to stay on your feet while still keeping the opponent away from the ball. You'll need to learn how to use your arms and body to shield the ball and win the ball in the air.

- Play with intensity.

- Increase your effort off the ball.

- Keep a competitive mindset.

MENTAL

ANTICIPATION

Intercepting a pass takes the ability to anticipate, read the play and keep the receiving player guessing. All of that takes time and practice to learn, and takes careful thought to apply in a game situation. 

Put simply, it's the knack of knowing where to be, when to move and sensing what is going to happen before it actually does.

- Keep distance between yourself and the other player.

-Use your body to make sure the attacker can’t get the pass before you.

- Use your arm to shield the opposing player.

MENTAL

CREATIVITY

Creativity is the ability to adapt and provide innovative solutions to newly emergent problems.

On a soccer field, this translates to a player's ability to find solutions to the multitude of problems presented throughout the game

- Express yourself with freedom.

- Trust yourself and work hard to learn new skills.

- Know what to do before you receive the ball.

MENTAL

COURAGE

Having courage will give your team the competitive edge; your players need to show courage to take responsibility for their team role and their behaviour. If they have the courage to not be afraid on and off the pitch, sticking up against what's wrong, as well as maintaining a positive attitude.

- Always do the right thing.

- Learn to take risks.

- Always do the right thing.

MENTAL

LEADERSHIP

Leaders should never be overly critical of teammates, but offer constructive criticism, provide motivation and reward hard work.

They need to handle pressure well and communicate effectively with the referee as well as the team.

- Communication is important.

- Be passionate about the game.

- Keep all players united towards a set target
