Having courage will give your team the competitive edge; your players need to show courage to take responsibility for their team role and their behaviour. If they have the courage to not be afraid on and off the pitch, sticking up against what's wrong, as well as maintaining a positive attitude.

- Trust yourself and work hard to learn new skills.

- Know what to do before you receive the ball.

TRANSITIONS

Throughout most matches, the transition from defense to offense- or offense to defense- will usually go through the midfield players who are tasked with supporting either the forwards or attacking midfield players or the defense.

- Keep distance between yourself and the other player.

-Use your body to make sure the attacker can’t get the pass before you.

- Use a little arm movement to shield the opposing player.

Speed of play in soccer is defined by physical and mental attributes that players must possess to be successful. Physical characteristics include first touch and transition from attack to defense, while the mental side includes things such as reaction to pressure and decision making.

Set pieces are an important part of a successful team and when you are developing your players they need the ability to take a set piece in their locker.

Most young players don’t have the power to kick the ball and reach too far. They need something a bit more creative.

Leaders should never be overly critical of teammates, but offer constructive criticism, provide motivation and reward hard work.

They need to handle pressure well and communicate effectively with the referee as well as the team.
